Project History
  • Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) is set issue tender for the design consultancy package for the phase 1 of the planned Nuwaiseeb power and water desalination plant in Ahmadi by October 2020. The pre-qualification and tendering process for the EPC contract for Phase 1 is expected to start in March 2021. (September 2020)

Project Scope

The project scope involves the development of an integrated water and power plant in Nuwaiseeb. in Kuwait.

 

The project will be implemented in two phases.

 

The Phase 1 scope involves the construction of a 3,600-megawatt combined-cycle gas turbine power plant and water desalination capacity of 75 million imperial gallons per day.

 

The plant will run on low sulphur fuel oil (LSFO). The scope involves the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and other facilities, the installation of gas turbines, steam turbines, condensers, boilers/heat exchangers and electric generators, and the laying of transmission lines.
