Project Scope

The project scope involves the development of the Haliba field.

Al-Dhafra Petroleum won a 30-year deal in March 2012, giving it the rights to explore three oil blocks; two onshore and one offshore.

Al Dhafra Petroleum made its first discovery at the Haliba field in May 2014. The company estimated at the end of 2014 that the Haliba had 100 million barrels of resources.

In July 2019, Adnoc announced the start of oil production from the Haliba field, marking the first time Al-Dhafra Petroleum had produced crude since it was established in 2013. Haliba came online with a production capacity of 40,000 barrels per day (bpd).

Phase I of the project includes 32 wells and construction of a 65km pipeline to carry crude oil from Haliba field wells to ADNOC Onshore’s Asab Central Degassing Station for processing.

Phase two will deliver future expansion of Al Dhafra Petroleum’s production capacity by tapping into surrounding marginal fields and prospects, potentially increasing production capacity to reach up to 60,000 bpd by 2023.

Project Structure:
The project client is Al-Dhafra Petroleum Operations Company (APOC), which is a joint venture of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) and GS Energy. Adnoc holds 60% stake whereas KNOC and GS Energy hold the remaining 40% stake in the APOC.
