Indian Railways to Set Up Solar Power Plant in Chhattisgarh

The Indian Railways is planning to set up a 50 MW solar power plant in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, where it has spare land, through Railway Energy Management Company (REMCL).

 

The proposed project is estimated to cost Rs 200 crore, of which the Railways will bear 20 percent or Rs 40 crore of the construction cost, while the balance 80 percent will be raised through debt.

 

Power will be purchased through a developer model where the developers will operate and maintain the project.
