The Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) is planning to launch an industrial gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant during the current Iranian calendar year which started on March 20.
A senior official with RIPI, Mansour Bazmi said the institute, supported by National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), has developed the first GTL plant in Iran by employing slurry reactor technology.
"RIPI has signed an MOU with National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) for developing a gas refinery project as well," he said.
Elaborating on the institute's achievements during the previous Iranian year, Bazmi, who serves as head of the downstream faculty of RIPI, said the faculty is currently working on key petroleum industry catalysts and is providing catalysts to Persian Gulf Star Refinery for production of quality petrol.
He said RIPI inked two strategic deals with National Iranian Oil Products and Distribution Company (NIOPDC) for development of RCD catalysts and hydrocracking studies.
"For the first time in RIPI's history, engineering services and technical knowhow was sold to 9 refineries," Bazmi said.
