Iraq Declares Extinguishing of Last Well in Qayara

Mr. Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi the minister of oil declared the extinguishing of the well No.42 in Qayara field in Ninawa governorate, which was the last flaming remaining oil well in the north of Iraq.


Mr. Al-Luiebi said that the technical & engineering staff, the supporting authorities, the civil defense and the military efforts extinguished the well and controlled over it totally. He said also that the national staff proved a high skillfulness in dealing with the complicated oil well fires. They was also capable of extinguishing the oil wells in a record time by depending on the available capabilities without depending on the international companies "which saved millions of foreign currency".


Mr. Al-Luiebi was grateful for all the staff of the north oil company (NOC), the supporting oil companies, the civil defense, the security forces, the local administration in the zone and the governorate, the tribes and the civilians. He also confirmed the keenness of the ministry to speed-up the rehabilitation & development of Qayara and preparing the necessary plans for this process.


Mr. Assim Jihad the spokesman of the ministry said that the minister ordered to honor all the authorities whom participated in this national achievement which is considered as a strong response against the terrorist gangs whom wanted to hinder the economic development in Iraq. He said also that the wells of Qayara are 50. While the terrorist gangs of ISIS sabotaged 34 wells of them "and 18 wells of these 34 were set on fire".
