Mubadala Petroleum appointed Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri as the new chief executive officer of the international oil and gas exploration and production company and wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala, the company said on Sunday.
Al Katheeri succeeds Musabbeh Al Kaabi, who was recently appointed to lead the new Petroleum and Petrochemicals portfolio of Mubadala Investment Company when it commences operations in May, Mubadala Petroleum said in a statement.
Al Katheeri previously held the positions of Chief Growth Officer, responsible for all new business development and M&A activity, and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing both operated and non-operated assets, and UAE gas supply. He brings with him more than 18 years of diverse experience in the oil and gas industry.
“Our efforts over the last two years in reducing the company’s cost base and increasing the efficiency of our operations, against a very challenging market environment, have positioned us well to take advantage of this period of more stable prices," Al Katheeri said. "We are looking for new opportunities to add to our existing production and the development projects we expect to bring forward in the near future.”
Al Katheeri holds a BSc degree in Petroleum Engineering and applied Mathematics from the University of Tulsa (Oklahoma, USA) and MSc in Environmental Science from UAE University. He also holds an Executive MBA from HCT, UAE and a Doctorate of Business Administration from the College of Business and Economics, UAE University.
Before joining Mubadala Petroleum, Al Katheeri was managing production and facilities engineering for five operating companies of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). In his capacity as a manager of production and facilities engineering for all offshore operators in Abu Dhabi, he managed and coordinated aggregate production of more than one million barrels daily.
