The Experts Appraisal Committee (EAC) of Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has granted approval to set up a 1,080 MW (270 x 4) Bhadradri Thermal Power project at Manuguru in Bhadradri-Kothgudem district of Telangana.
The project was put on hold for the last two years as it faced obstacles from the National Green Tribunal.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 7,300 crore, of which Rs 1,020 crore has already been spent on project works. The proposed project will be executed by BHEL.
The state government will speed up the work for setting up the project. The project is one of the nine thermal power projects which the state government has planned to set up using sub-critical thermal general technology.
Land acquisition from reserve forests and farm lands will be completed at the earliest.
