Power transmission company, Sterlite Power has commissioned the Purulia-Kharagpur transmission project.
The power transmission project will supply 1,200 MW electricity to Jharkhand and West Bengal. The transmission project of 273 km length involves two 400 kV double circuit lines, including 112 km Purulia-Ranchi lines and 161 km Kharagpur-Chaibasa lines.
The company will operate and maintain the project for a period of 35 years.
The Purulia-Ranchi transmission line connects Purulia Pumped Storage Power Project (PSPP) in West Bengal and the 765/400 kV substation of Power Grid Corporation in Jharkhand; while the Kharagpur-Chaibasa transmission line connects substations of PowerGrid and West Bengal utility in Chaibasa and Kharagpur.
