The government of Madhya Pradesh will install sewage treatment plants along the banks of river Narmada, in main cities of the state.
Around 3,343 sewage treatment plants will be set up along the river route in the cities including Hoshangabad and Jabalpur. The cost of each plant will range between Rs 70 crore and Rs 600 crore. The plants will be completed by 2019.
The area around the river will also be restored with plantation of trees in around 800 km track and by encouraging organic farming along the river.
