The 4rd annual GPCA Research and Innovation Summit, which will open in Bahrain this week, will provide valuable insights into the current petrochemical and chemical industry plans to harness the power of innovation to help drive sustainable and profitable growth for the sector.
The event, organized by Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), will take place at Art Rotana Hotel in Amwaj Islands from March 7 to 9. This year, senior executives from the industry’s foremost companies, academia and research institutions will provide their insight on how to ‘Manage Technology for Growth and Profitability’.
Divided into three days, the programme will scrutinise the interface between processes and technology and how to weave the different vectors of R&D to reach important business goals. Delegates will also be presented with case studies on successful technology management and related business results, and learn from leading industry experts about how to turn technology into profitable business solutions.

On Day 1 of the summit, Dr Moayyed Al-Qurtas, chairman of the GPCA’s Research and Innovation Committee, will deliver the plenary and welcome address, followed by keynote speeches from Dr. Adnan Shihab-Eldin, director general, Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences; and Dr Kais As-Sultany, EVP, technology and innovation, Tasnee. Other speakers of note include Dr Ulrich Kuesthardt, chief innovation officer, Evonik Industries; Dr Massimo Covezzi, SVP – R&D, LyondellBasell; and Dr Jim Rekoske, CTO and VP for R&D, Honeywell UOP, among others.
