The all-party meeting chaired by Industries Minister AC Moideen to settle gas pipeline issues, decided to consider special rehabilitation package for people who possess only small patches of land. District collector has been entrusted to prepare a list of persons who will be losing their entire land due to the gas pipeline project.
“The MLAs have raised the issue of a few people losing their house and a few others who possess only small patch of land,” said the minister after the meeting, here, on Monday. The government will prepare a rehabilitation package of such persons, he added.
The meeting also decided to speed up the disbursal of compensation amount to the land owners. “GAIL authorities have expressed willingness to distribute the compensation amount to the land holders in one week of submission of the land document at places where the gas pipeline work has already started, the minister said. At other places where the land is notified for the gas pipeline project, landowners will get the compensation amount within three weeks on submission of the land document, the minister said.
The minister assured that the state government would hold discussions with the GAIL authorities to maximise the compensation amount. However, as per the Central Government Act, the compensation amount will be calculated based on the fair value of the land, he said.
The minister also directed the district collector to prepare the list of land where the notified land is paddy field.
