Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy Secures Land for Renewable Energy Projects

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy announced that it has secured a total of 12 million square metres of land in two industrial cities in Jeddah and Rabigh for renewable energy projects.

The ministry said land parcels were secured in Jeddah Third Industrial City and Rabigh Industrial City through the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) to build two renewable power projects with a total capacity of 600 megawatts.

Through the National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP) outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, the Ministry of Energy is working to diversify the energy mix used in electricity production, increasing the share of natural gas and renewable energy sources to approximately 50 percent by 2030 while reducing the use of liquid fuel, the statement noted.
