  • The Saudi Power Procurement Company has invited interested companies to pre-qualify by 29 September, 2025 for the contracts to develop and operate solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind independent power producer (IPP) projects, with a combined capacity of 5,300 MW, under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which is led and supervised by the Ministry of Energy. Project Scope

The project scope involves the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind independent power producer (IPP) projects, with a combined capacity of 5,300 MW, under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which is led and supervised by the Ministry of Energy.

 

The projects are as follows:

Solar PV IPPs:

• Tabarjal 2 Solar PV IPP in Al-Jouf Region with a capacity of 1,400 MW,

• Mawqaq Solar PV IPP in Hail Region with a capacity of 600 MW,

• Tathleeth Solar PV IPP in Aseer Region with a capacity of 600 MW,

• South Al Ula Solar PV IPP in Madinah Region with a capacity of 500 MW,

Wind IPPs: 

• Bilghah Wind IPP in Madinah with a capacity of 1,300 MW

• Shagran Wind IPP in Madinah with a capacity of 900 MW.

 

The SPPC is the entity responsible for preparing feasibility studies, tendering electricity generation projects, and signing power purchase agreements with developer consortia.

 

To date, SPPC has launched renewable electricity generation projects with a total capacity of over 43 GW. Of these, power purchase agreements have been signed for projects with a total capacity of over 38 GW.

 

The NREP to achieve an optimal energy mix and supply 50% of the kingdom's electricity from renewable energy by 2030.
