Sub-contracts to supply critical power generation equipment and long-term maintenance services for the Misfah and Duqm IPP projects in the Sultanate of Oman has been awarded to Siemens Energy. Under the awarded contracts, Siemens Energy will supply six SGT5-4000F gas turbines, six SGen5-2000P generators, and associated equipment for both facilities. The company will also provide 20-year long-term service agreements (LTSAs) covering maintenance, operational support, and performance optimization of the generating units. (July 2026)

• OQ Gas Networks (OQGN) is preparing to connect Misfah and Duqm gas-fired IPPs, currently under procurement, to the national gas grid. Final Investment Decision (FID) has been granted for connecting the two power schemes to the national gas grid. Work on the basic engineering phase supporting these gas supply linkages has also commenced. As per the FID granted by the regulator, the Misfah IPP will receive 8.5 million standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD) of natural gas, while Duqm IPP will be supplied with 4.5 MMSCMD. • Nama PWP has awarded contracts to a unit of Qatar’s Nebras Energy for the development of Misfah, Duqm IPPs with a total capacity of 2,600 MW. The larger of the two is Misfah IPP, with a capacity of 1,700 MW, while Duqm IPP is sized at 877 MW. The Misfah IPP will be developed by a consortium led by Nebras Energy (49 percent) and including the Etihad Water and Electricity Company (44 percent) of UAE and Bahwan Infrastructure Services Company (7 percent). Nebras Energy's subsidiary has a 30 percent stake in the Duqm IPP, which is being developed by a consortium led by Korea Western Power Company - KOWEPO (35 percent) with Etihad Water and Electricity Company (30 percent), and Bahwan Infrastructure Services Company (5 percent). • Synergy Consulting Inc. has announced its role as Lead Financial and Commercial Advisor to Nama PWP for the successful procurement of approximately 2.4 GW Misfah IPP and Duqm IPP. (March 2026)
• The project developer consortium for Duqm IPP has signed a $385 million EPC contract with Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCOIII) of China, part of Power China, and Doosan Enerbility of South Korea. The combined-cycle gas-fired power plant will have a planned generation capacity of approximately 890 MW, with a net output of around 876 MW. The $910 million project, procured under the BOO model is backed by 20-year PPA with Oman’s NPWP. (June 2026)
