Project Current Status

Dewa has awarded the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract to PGESCO of Egypt for the remaining work of its Jebel Ali Power Station "K" Phase III project. PGESCO role in this project includes construction, commissioning management, and ensuring to meet DEWA’s requirements and objectives. The project is PGESCO’s first EPCM project in the UAE, overseeing the development of a simple/open cycle generation power plant with 2 F Class Gas Turbines from Siemens AG capable of generating more than 500MW power output.   • Client has invited companies to submit bids for the technical and economic feasibility study on a planned Jebel Ali 'K' phase III power station. (April 2015)
  • Bids have been invited for the construction contract on Jebel Ali Power Station "K" Phase III project. Last date to submit bids is 21 July. (May 2016)

  • Bids submission deadline for the construction contract has been extended to 25 August. (July 2016)
  • Bids submission deadline has been extended to 26 September, 2016, from the previous due date of 25 August, 2016. (August 2016)
  • Bids have been submitted for the engineering consultancy role for the power plant expansion project. AES has submitted the lowest bid price of AED11.02 million ($3 million). (September 2016)
  • Bids have been submitted for the construction contract. Tecnicas Reunidas S.A. has submitted the lowest bid price of AED 788.8 million ($214.8 million). (September 2016)
  • Dewa has awarded the contract worth Dh798million ($217 million) for the phase III of K-Station at Jebel Ali Power Station to Spanish company Duro Felguera. The project includes the supply, installation, testing and launch of 2 F-type gas turbines from Siemens AG that will produce 590MW at 50 degrees centigrade. (April 2017)
  • Dewa has invited bids for the EPCM contract for the remaining work of its Jebel Ali Power Station "K" Phase III project. Last date to submit bids is 28 September, 2023. Spain’s Duro Felguera was the main EPC contractor to expand the Jebel Ali K Station power plant. The turbines were operational in 2020.Currently, the plant has a capacity of 1,538 MW. (August 2023)

Project Scope

The project scope involves capacity expansion of existing Jebel Ali power station, the project called, Jebel Ali Power Station "K" Phase III project.

 

Expansion will increase capacity of existing facility by about 500MW and 50 million gallons a day of desalination. 

 

Currently, the plant has a capacity of 880MW and 60 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD) of desalinated water.

 

The desalination plant will be a reverse osmosis (RO) facility.
