Project Scope

The project scope involves the development of a desalination plant at Jebel Ali.

The planned reverse osmosis (RO) plant will have a capacity of 40 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD).

The project will be developed as a brownfield seawater desalination plant and associated facilities, with two pass reverse osmosis (RO) desalination technology, including pre-treatment facilities.

The sharp rise in water demand in Dubai has led the government to invest heavily in new desalination capacity.

Peak demand for water increased to 316MIGD in 2014, up 7 per cent on the 296MIGD demand recorded in 2013.

Project Structure:
The project is owned, operated and managed by the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa).
