Project Scope

The project scope involves the expansion of the Bab Integrated Facilities to develop the emirate's Bab field, located southwest of Abu Dhabi.

The project will raise Adco's overall oil production from 1.4 million bpd to 1.8 million bpd.

Surface facilities will be delivered for the Thamama-A, Thamama-H and Thamama-B production zones to achieve a total sustainable oil production rate of 450 million bpd.

The integrated facilities expansion will include a new well fluid gathering system comprising off-plot wells, well bays, flowlines, manifolds and other associated hardware and equipment.

It also includes an additional processing train with a 176,000-barrel-per-day total liquids capacity in the existing Bab Central Degassing Station (BCDS) with associated facilities.

In addition, the successful contractor will also be responsible for the modifications to the existing BCDS facilities.

Bab Far North is part of the Bab field, which has a production capacity of almost 450,000 bpd. The project marks another step towards boosting oil production capacity to 5 million bpd by 2030, up from the existing 4 million bpd capacity.

Project Structure:
The project client is Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco). Adco is majority-owned by Adnoc, which has a 60% stake in the state-owned onshore giant. BP and France’s Total each hold a 10% interest. Japan’s Inpex has a 5% interest in Adco and South Korea’s GS Energy has 3%. In addition, the remaining 12% stake in Adco was recently taken up by two Chinese companies. China’s state-controlled China National Petroleum Corporation was awarded an 8% stake by Adco, while the remaining 4 % was taken by CEFC China Energy.
