Interested bidders have until 5 September, 2022 to submit offers. The project shall consist of two stages: the first stage shall involve producing the feasibility study, whereas the second stage shall consist of providing technical consultancy services for the wind IPPs constructed as a result of the aforementioned study, and that is after obtaining the necessary approvals. - Nama Power and Water Procurement (Nama PWP), formerly OPWP, is set to issue a Request for Qualifications (RfQ) as well as a Request for Proposals (RfP) for three wind power projects this year. Three new wind-based Independent Power Projects (IPPs) planned are at Duqm (Al Wusta Governorate), Jalaan Bani Bu Ali (South Al Sharqiyah Governorate and Harweel (Dhofar Governorate). OPWP has completed a one-year ground wind data gathering exercise at Ras Madrakah (Wusta) and Sadah (Dhofar) as part of its Wind Resource Assessment. This data will serve as a foundation for the evaluation of the feasibility of wind projects at each site. The company has also initiated the development activities of three wind projects at Duqm, Jalaan Bani Bu Ali, and Harweel. (June 2023)
- The Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP) is set to invite firms to pre-qualify for the new phase of procurement of wind power projects, before the end of this year. RFQs are set to be issued in the current quarter for as many as four new wind-based IPPs – 1. Wind IPP planned at Duqm in Al Wusta Governorate with an installed capacity of around 200-300 MW. RFQ for the project is proposed to be issued in Q3, 2023, which will be followed by a Request for Proposals (RFP) in Q1, 2024. The project is proposed to be brought into operation in Q3, 2026. 2. Wind IPP planned at Jalaan Bani Bu Ali in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, sized at around 100 MW. RFQ for the project is expected to be issued in Q3, 2023 with the project’s Commercial Operation Date (COD) scheduled for Q3, 2026. (September 2023)

OETC has awarded a contract to MADKOUR Projects to construct Jaalan Bu Ali Wind Farm 132kv Grid station in South Sharqiyah Governorate, along with a 132 KV overhead line. The contract scope includes the construction of a 132 KV wind farm substation and 132 KV overhead lines connecting JBB Hassan to Al-Jawabi substation. The Jaalan Bu Ali wind farm has a production capacity of 100-200 megawatts. (December 2024)
