Global Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) capacity is poised to see moderate growth over the next five years, potentially increasing from 10.59 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) in 2021 to 10.83mtpa in 2026, registering total growth of 2%.
GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Global Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) Industry Outlook to 2026 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of All Active and Planned Plants’, states that around three planned and announced plants are slated to come online, primarily in the Middle East and Asia.
Within the Middle East, Iran has two planned EPS projects, with a total capacity of about 0.17mtpa, by 2026. The country is expected to spend a capital expenditure (capex) of $246.76m. Major capacity additions will be from a planned project, the Dalahoo Kimiya Industry Company Assaluyeh Expanded Polystyrene Plant.
In Asia, India has only one planned project, with capacity additions of about 0.03mtpa. The country is expected to spend a total of $3.76m. Major capacity additions will be from a planned project, the Supreme Petrochem Nagothane Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) Plant 2.
Kimiya Sanaye Dalahoo Co, Petro Ramsheh Co and Supreme Petrochem Ltd will be the three companies globally in terms of planned and announced capacity additions over the upcoming years.
