Rajalakshmi Group Plans to Foray into Manufacturing Wind Turbines

Chennai-based Rajalakshmi Group plans to foray into manufacturing wind turbines with technology from Vensys of Germany. Rajalakshmi Renewables is working towards launching a four MW turbine through its subsidiary, Ventus Power.

The new manufacturing plant is anticipated to come up at Gummidipoondi near Chennai. The company expects to begin selling the machines by 2025. It would speed up the process by purchasing components and gradually expanding into manufacturing.

Vensys, a wind turbine maker, would be collaborating with an Indian company for the second time. Previously, Chennai-based Regen Powertech partnered with Vensys to manufacture and sell devices.

Moreover, India envisages to generate about five GW wind power capacity this year. The country now has nearly 44 GW of installed capacity and targets to achieve 100 GW by 2030.
