NTPC Green Energy, SMPK Ties-Up for Green Hydrogen Hub

NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMPK) for the development of a green hydrogen hub at Kolkata in West Bengal. The MoU was signed by NGEL and SMPK in the presence of CEO of NGEL and other senior officials of NTPC and SMPK.

 

NGEL, the wholly-owned subsidiary of India’s integrated power producer, is taking up renewable energy (RE) capacity addition including projects of green hydrogen and energy storage. The power utility has a total installed capacity of over 73 GW.

 

NTPC Group aims for 60 GW of RE capacity by the year 2032, with 3.2 GW of installed and over 20 GW in pipeline.

 

SMPK is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).
