Power Grid Corporation Estimates Capex Expenditure of Rs 1.9 lakh cr by 2032

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has estimated a capital expenditure of Rs 1.88 lakh crore by 2032. As per the investment plan projected by the company, Rs 1.16 lakh crore would be directed towards inter-state transmission projects, Rs 37,000 crore would be spent on intra-state transmission projects, Rs 10,000 crore on cross border business and around Rs 7,500 crore on international operations by 2032.

 

The transmission firm would also spend Rs 15,000 crore on smart metering infrastructure, and maintaining its stance on sustainability, the company will add solar power projects, for which it has allocated a sum of Rs 1,000 crore in the same period.

 

Moreover, the company aims to start data centre operations, and has launched a pilot project in Manesar, Haryana, with such centres being planned in other areas also. Thecompany's subsidiary PowerGrid Tele Services will undertake this project. The capital expenditure earmarked for the venture is Rs 1,000 crore till 2032, but could be increased based on the success of the project.

 

The company's capex target for the ongoing financial year is Rs 8,800 crore, which could well extend to Rs 10,000 crore on the back of several projects received. Till September, the company made a capital expenditure of Rs 4,246 crore.
