Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power (NUPPL), a joint venture between NLC India and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam has reached a milestone in the construction of the coal-based supercritical thermal power plant in Ghatampur tehsil in Uttar Pradesh.
Unit-I of this project has been successfully synchronized with the 765 kV grid on November 4, 2023, and marks a crucial step forward toward the commercial operation declaration (COD).
The plant features a supercritical boiler and turbine-generator sets, and adheres to the latest environmental standards through the implementation of flue gas desulphurization (FGD) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technologies, ensuring zero liquid discharge.
The entire power of 1,980 MW of NUPPL thermal power plant has already been tied up with the states of Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and 100 percent power purchase agreements (PPA) are in place.
The main plant boiler package is executed by L&T, turbine package by GE, and BOP package by BGR.
Meanwhile, NUPPL is also working for development of the linked coal mine, Pachwara South Coal Block in Dumka district of Jharkhand, which will provide a sustainable source of fuel for the end-use power plant.
