ONGC Links Panna Oilfield through Sub-Sea Pipeline

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on 22 June, 2022 has announced the successful linking of Panna oilfield in the Arabian Sea to shore through a sub-sea pipeline.

The connection will help to achieve cost efficiencies and savings of approx. USD 43,000 a day, an expense which was earlier incurred in transporting crude oil through ships. It will also enable associated benefits such as minimal production downtime due to tanker changeovers and no requirement of demurrage charges during adverse weather.

The work comprised laying of two segments of 37.50 km of the submarine pipeline, and installation of three main oil line pumps (MOL) and three booster pumps. With this, the oil and gas producer has strengthened its commitment to the sector through improved operational agility to reach objectives of raising output and securing India's energy interest.

The oilfield, which is part of ONGC's Bassein & Satellite (B&S) asset of western offshore, boasts of an output of 9,600 barrels per day. Moreover, the Panna-Mukta oilfield consists of two adjacent offshore fields north-west of Mumbai.
