India on Track to Add upto 8 GW Wind Capacity by FY27

India is on track to add 7.5-8 GW of wind energy capacity in the current fiscal year as the country accelerates renewable energy deployment to meet its 2030 targets, a senior government official said.

Addressing the EU-India Wind Energy Business Summit 2026 at WindEnergy Hamburg, Rajesh Kulhari, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, said India had added more than 6 GW of wind capacity in 2025-26.

India has set a target of taking its installed wind power capacity beyond 100 GW by 2030. As of August 31, 2026, the country had 58.52 GW of installed wind capacity. 2.42 GW added in five months.

During the first five months of the current fiscal — April to August — India added 2.42 GW of wind capacity.
