ADNOC, RWE Sign LoI to Advance Long-Term LNG Supply Agreements

ADNOC and RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWE) have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to advance negotiations for up to two long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreements, strengthening their strategic energy partnership and supporting future LNG supplies to Germany, wider Europe and Asia.

The LOI was signed during the state visit of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Germany and builds on the Strategic Collaboration Agreement between ADNOC and RWE announced in February 2026.

Under the proposed agreements, ADNOC would supply LNG to RWE under long-term arrangements, with deliveries potentially commencing from the early 2030s. The agreements are expected to support the diversification and security of natural gas supplies for customers in Germany, Europe and potentially Asian markets.

The proposed LNG supply arrangements build on ADNOC Gas’ existing long-term LNG commitments with German customers. These commitments represent approximately 1.6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG, equivalent to enough energy to meet the annual requirements of approximately 3.5 million German households.

The collaboration reinforces ADNOC’s role as a major international LNG supplier and supports Germany’s efforts to secure reliable long-term energy supplies. It also strengthens energy cooperation between the UAE and Germany and creates potential additional routes for LNG supplies into European and international markets.

The proposed agreements form part of ADNOC’s broader strategy to expand its international LNG business and establish long-term partnerships with major global energy companies, while supporting the growing demand for reliable natural gas supplies during the energy transition.

The LOI is subject to the parties progressing negotiations and agreeing the commercial terms of the potential LNG sale and purchase agreements.
