TruAlt Signs MoU to Set Up Rs. 22.50bn SAF Plant in Andhra Pradesh

TruAlt Bioenergy Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board to set up an integrated ethanol-to-Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility in the Srikakulam–Vizianagaram region. The proposed plant, with a planned capacity of 80,000 tonnes per annum, is expected to be one of the world’s largest SAF manufacturing units.

Under the MoU, TruAlt Bioenergy will invest around Rs. 22.50 billion to build the facility. The project is expected to create more than 500 direct jobs and about 2,000 indirect jobs, contributing to local employment and supporting the State’s industrial development plans. The company said the project is aligned with India’s emerging focus on clean aviation fuels and the broader national sustainability agenda.

The facility will be based on the Alcohol-to-Jet Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene (ATJ-SPK) pathway, one of the internationally approved routes under the ICAO framework. The process involves converting sugar-based feedstock into ethanol, which is then upgraded into jet-grade fuel. TruAlt said it will leverage its position as India’s largest ethanol producer to ensure reliable feedstock supply for the project.
