Premier Energies Launches Rs. 59bn Solar Manufacturing Complex in Andhra Pradesh

The establishment of a Rs 59.42 billion solar manufacturing complex by Premier Energies at the Naidupeta Industrial Park in Nellore district marks a significant advancement in Andhra Pradesh's clean energy initiatives. Nara Lokesh, the state’s Minister for Information Technology, announced the project, which is expected to bolster the local economy and enhance India's solar energy capabilities.

Minister Lokesh described the project as a testament to the speed and clarity of Andhra Pradesh's governance, which adopts an investor-first approach. He outlined how the initiative represents a major milestone for the state, designed to strengthen the solar value chain amidst global supply challenges. The groundwork began in October 2024, with focused discussions on developing upstream capabilities that include solar cells, ingots, and wafers.

The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has expedited the allocation of land for the project, securing 269 acres swiftly. By February 2025, 169.71 acres had been officially allotted, with an additional 100 acres approved in principle. This rapid land allocation, coupled with robust infrastructure and immediate port access, has instilled confidence in Premier Energies to centralize its operations in a single scalable location.
