Iraqi PM Inaugurates $86mn Water and Infrastructure Projects in Diwaniyah

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has laid the foundations of three integrated water and infrastructure projects in the districts of Al-Shafiya, Nafar, and Al-Salahiya in Al-Diwaniyah province.

The projects, covering wastewater, stormwater, transmission lines, and pumping and treatment stations, have a total cost of approximately 114 billion Iraqi dinars (about $86 million).

During the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister stated that these projects have been a core objective of the government programme since its inception, as they form the foundation for broader developmental initiatives. He added that service indicators across Iraq have risen notably following the completion of numerous projects in various provinces.

The launched projects include more than 207 kilometres of transmission pipelines, with a total treatment capacity of 17,500 cubic metres per day, serving over 250,000 residents in the province.
