Minister Inspects Strategic Gasoline Improvement Project in Kirkuk

The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Eng. Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, inspected the gasoline hydrogenation and improvement project Kirkuk Governorate, which is being implemented by the Al-Barham Refining and Distribution of Oil Derivatives Company for the benefit of the Northern Refineries Company.

The Minister emphasized the Ministry's commitment to improving the production of oil derivatives in accordance with international standards. This is achieved through the implementation of several important projects in the refining sector, including this important project in Kirkuk, and the FCC project at the Southern Refineries Company to increase the production of high-octane gasoline. He also highlighted the implementation of projects to add production units at the Maysan refinery (70,000 barrels capacity), the Najaf refinery (70,000 barrels capacity), the Diwaniyah refinery (70,000 barrels capacity), and the refinery in Nineveh Governorate (70,000 barrels capacity). All of these units will be implemented in accordance with modern, environmentally friendly international specifications.

It is worth noting that the gasoline hydrogenation and improvement project, affiliated with the Northern Refineries Company and implemented by Al-Barham Company, is considered a strategic project in the refining sector. This project includes three units: a gasoline hydrogenation unit with a capacity of 14,400 thousand barrels per day, a gasoline improvement unit with a capacity of 6,400 thousand barrels per day, and an isomerization unit with a capacity of 8,000 thousand barrels per day.
