Iraq Inaugurates Central Gas Processing Facility at Block 9

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani inaugurated the central gas processing plant in the Al-Faihaa oil field, with a capacity of 130 cubic meters per day, in Basra Governorate, via video link, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Engineer Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad.

The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the engineers and workers on the projects, particularly those who completed the two gas projects. This project aims to achieve the government's vision of developing the oil industry, reducing associated gas flaring, diversifying financial revenues, and protecting the environment.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil affirmed the ministry's commitment to implementing gas investment projects from oil fields to achieve industrial development and support the national economy by increasing and diversifying revenues.

The Minister indicated that gas investment is an important project that secures sufficient gas to operate power plants. The opening ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Extraction Affairs, Mr. Bassem Mohammed Khadir, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Gas Affairs, Mr. Izzat Sabir Ismail, the Director General of the Southern Gas Company, and a number of officials from the local government in Basra and officials from the oil formations in Basra.
