South Energy Completes Solar Panel Installation at 10 Dubai Buildings

South Energy, a leading energy provider, has announced the successful installation of solar panels across 10 buildings at Sakany, the first leasehold staff accommodation development at Dubai South, thus providing 933 kWp capacity.

The new initiative by South Energy aligns with its mandate to contribute to the government’s ongoing sustainability efforts, especially with 2023 being the ‘Year of Sustainability’ and the UAE hosting COP 28, the international climate convention held annually by the United Nations.

Following this installation, 35% of the buildings’ consumption will be supplied by clean energy generated from the solar plant.

South Energy, which is located at Dubai South, was established in 2017 as a key driver for sustainable development, supporting the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy. It offers many energy solutions, including renewable energy, energy-saving retrofits, district cooling and a centralized gas farm.

Sakany represents a regional benchmark for staff accommodation that emphasizes resident welfare. It boasts a wide range of amenities including a multi-purpose hall in each building; landscaped courtyards; bicycle racks and a sports complex in addition to football and cricket pitches as well as badminton, basketball and volleyball courts and medical centre.
