TDP Wins 132kV High-Voltage Cable Contract for Expo 2030 Riyadh

Trading and Development Partnership (TDP) has been selected as an execution partner for the power supply infrastructure project for Expo 2030 Riyadh, in collaboration with Saudi Energy and Expo 2030 Riyadh Company.

Under the awarded contract, TDP will undertake the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 132kV high-voltage cables to connect the main electrical substations serving the Expo 2030 Riyadh site directly to the national electricity grid.

The project will provide a reliable and sustainable power supply for the Expo site, which is planned to cover approximately 6 million square metres, supporting the large-scale infrastructure and operational requirements of the global event.

The scope of work includes the engineering and execution of 132kV cable systems, including cable supply, installation, testing and commissioning, as part of the electrical infrastructure required to establish reliable connections between the Expo’s main substations and the national grid.

The project is being developed not only to meet the power requirements of Expo 2030 Riyadh but also to establish future-ready electrical infrastructure capable of supporting Riyadh’s long-term urban development. The infrastructure is expected to form part of the city’s wider sustainable and resilient utility network beyond the duration of the Expo.

The contract signing ceremony was attended by senior executives from the participating organizations. Sami Al Zahrani, Group CEO of TDP, and Mohamed Fadel, CEO of TDP Power & Service, led the company’s delegation. The agreement was signed with Waleed Al Saadi, CEO of National Grid, in the presence of Khalid bin Salem Al Ghamdi, CEO of Saudi Energy, Talal Al Marri, CEO of Expo 2030 Riyadh, and Abdulaziz Alaqel, CEO of Development at Expo 2030 Riyadh.

The award represents a significant milestone for TDP and strengthens its role in delivering critical high-voltage power infrastructure for major projects in the Kingdom. The company will leverage its engineering expertise and execution capabilities to support one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious international developments.

Expo 2030 Riyadh is a major component of the Kingdom’s transformation agenda and is expected to attract visitors from around the world. The development of reliable electricity infrastructure is therefore a critical element in enabling the Expo’s facilities and supporting Riyadh’s continued growth as a global city.

The project also aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly the development of sustainable infrastructure, strengthening local execution capabilities, and positioning Riyadh as a leading global destination for business, innovation and international events.

With the delivery of the 132kV power infrastructure, TDP will contribute to powering Expo 2030 Riyadh while helping establish electrical infrastructure designed to support the future development of the Saudi capital.
