ADNOC L&S Orders Two LNG Carriers from Jiangnan Shipyard

ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) has exercised options to order two additional next-generation LNG carriers from Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, China, under a contract valued at $444 million.

The two new vessels will each have a cargo capacity of 175,000 cubic metres (m³) and are scheduled for delivery in 2029.

The contract forms part of ADNOC L&S’ ongoing fleet expansion programme to support the growing transportation requirements of liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets and ADNOC’s expanding international energy business.

Upon delivery, the new LNG carriers are expected to be deployed under long-term charter agreements, strengthening ADNOC L&S’ capacity to provide reliable and efficient LNG transportation services.

With the latest order, ADNOC L&S’ LNG carrier fleet will expand to 24 vessels, comprising four legacy LNG carriers, six next-generation vessels delivered in the fourth quarter of 2024, and 14 additional vessels currently under construction.

The latest investment also brings ADNOC L&S’ announced expenditure on vessel acquisitions and newbuild commitments in 2026 to approximately $2.7 billion.

The newbuild vessels are part of the company’s strategy to expand and modernize its shipping fleet through the acquisition of next-generation LNG carriers. The programme is intended to support long-term charter operations and meet increasing demand for LNG transportation as ADNOC continues to grow its presence in global energy markets.
