Baker Hughes Signs Multi-Year Technology Contract for Kuwait’s O&G Sector

Baker Hughes has signed a multi-year contract with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to accelerate technology innovation and deployment across Kuwait’s upstream oil and gas sector.

The agreement positions Baker Hughes as a key technology collaborator at Ahmadi Innovation Valley (AIV), KOC’s flagship initiative to establish an in-country research and innovation hub focused on addressing the company’s strategic oil and gas development priorities.

Under the agreement, Baker Hughes and KOC will collaborate on the development, evaluation and deployment of scalable, fit-for-purpose technology solutions designed to optimize oil and gas production, improve flow assurance and address priorities identified under KOC’s technology roadmap.

The collaboration will leverage Baker Hughes’ portfolio of digital, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation technologies to help KOC enhance recovery from existing wells, reduce operating costs, lower water production and minimize power consumption.

As part of the agreement, Baker Hughes will establish a dedicated research and technology development centre at Ahmadi Innovation Valley.

The facility will support the continuous evaluation and testing of emerging technologies, facilitate the deployment of solutions at scale, and contribute to the development of local technical expertise in Kuwait’s upstream energy sector.

The centre is expected to serve as a platform for Baker Hughes and KOC to jointly develop technology solutions tailored to Kuwait’s specific production and operational requirements.

The partnership is intended to support KOC’s efforts to maximize value from its existing oil and gas assets while improving production performance and operational efficiency.

Baker Hughes said the collaboration will focus on delivering technology solutions at scale that are tailored to KOC’s development requirements and designed to improve production performance and efficiency.

Baker Hughes has operated in Kuwait for more than 40 years, providing energy technology solutions to the country’s upstream sector and making investments aimed at strengthening local capabilities and supporting communities.

The agreement further strengthens the long-standing relationship between Baker Hughes and KOC and is expected to contribute to Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to develop advanced, locally based technology and innovation capabilities for its upstream energy industry.
