Jereh Delivers Critical Gas Processing Systems for Taiba Power Plant

Jereh has successfully supplied and commissioned critical gas processing and pressure regulation systems for the 1,800 MW Taiba Independent Power Plant (IPP), marking a major milestone as Saudi Arabia’s first next-generation H-class heavy-duty gas turbine power plant successfully connected to the national grid.

The company delivered the project’s Pressure Regulation Station (PRS) and Front-End Module (FEM) equipment, providing essential gas handling and conditioning infrastructure required for the safe and efficient operation of the plant’s advanced H-class gas turbines.

The Taiba Power Plant is configured with three H-class gas turbines operating in a combined-cycle arrangement and one simple-cycle unit, enabling the facility to generate up to 1,800MW of electricity and produce more than 3 terawatt-hours (TWh) of power annually.

Jereh’s scope of work included the engineering, manufacturing, supply, commissioning, and performance support of the gas processing systems that facilitate stable fuel delivery and reliable synchronization of the power generation units with the Saudi electricity grid.

The successful grid connection represents a significant step in strengthening power supply reliability across the Madinah region and surrounding areas, supporting Saudi Arabia’s growing electricity demand driven by population growth, urban development, and industrial expansion.

In addition to enhancing energy security, the Taiba Power Plant contributes to the Kingdom’s sustainability objectives by reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 60 percent compared with conventional oil-fired power generation facilities. The project has also been designed with provisions for future Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) integration, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.

Jereh stated that the project demonstrates its capabilities as a trusted front-end gas processing partner for leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), delivering integrated solutions covering engineering, manufacturing, commissioning, and full lifecycle support for large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

The Taiba Power Plant forms part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to modernize its power generation fleet with highly efficient gas-fired technologies while supporting the Kingdom’s long-term energy transition and sustainability goals.
