Sunsure Energy Commissions 105 MWp Solar Power Project in UP

Sunsure Energy has commissioned a 105 MWp solar power project in Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant milestone as the first renewable energy project in the state to evacuate electricity through the Green Energy Corridor-II (GEC-II) infrastructure.

Located in Kabrai village, the project was completed in approximately four months from the signing of the power purchase agreement, making it one of the fastest utility-scale solar deployments in Uttar Pradesh. The plant is connected to the grid via a dedicated 7-km, 132 kV transmission line and evacuates power through the newly operational 220 kV Kabrai substation.

The GEC-II network, developed by Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation with an investment of around Rs 5,400 crore, is designed to enable evacuation of nearly four GW of solar power from the Bundelkhand region. The project is expected to generate over 167 million units of clean electricity annually, sufficient to power around 1.4 lakh households, while offsetting approx. 1.2 lakh tonne of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

Sunsure Energy’s operational capacity in Uttar Pradesh has now reached 365 MWp across 11 facilities, with plans to expand to 500 MW by FY26, including development of a battery energy storage system.
