Avaada to Soon Launch India’s Largest Solar Cell Manufacturing Facility

Avaada Group is set to commence operations at its solar cell manufacturing facility in Nagpur next month, marking a major milestone in India’s renewable energy manufacturing sector.

According to the company, the plant will have a solar cell production capacity equivalent to generating 6,000 MW of power, making it the largest solar cell manufacturing facility in the country. The project, being developed by Avaada Electro, is part of a broader investment plan aimed at creating an integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem.

The Nagpur complex already houses a solar module manufacturing capacity of 7,000 MW and is expected to progressively add polysilicon, ingot, wafer and cell production capabilities over the next year. By December 2026, the company aims to establish a fully integrated manufacturing chain from ingots to finished solar modules, significantly reducing dependence on imported cells. Further on, Avaada is also planning to set up a dedicated solar glass manufacturing unit in Nagpur to further localize its supply chain.

The project involves an overall investment of about Rs 13,000 crore, of which nearly Rs 5,000 crore has already been deployed. Avaada Electro is also preparing for an initial public offering while continuing to expand its manufacturing footprint and advanced solar product portfolio.
