Saudi Arabia Announces Projects to Expand Ports with $613mn Investment

The Saudi Arabian Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced a series of projects to expand port and logistics infrastructure at the Jubail Commercial Port and King Abdulaziz Port, with a total investment exceeding 2.3 billion riyals (approximately $613 million) aimed at improving operational efficiency and attracting foreign investment.

At the Jubail Port, a concession agreement has been signed with Saudi Global Ports (part of Singapore's PSA International Group) to privatize and modernize the container terminal, increasing its capacity to 2.4 million TEUs per year thanks to longer quays, deeper waters, and 39 new automated and eco-friendly cranes.

At King Abdulaziz Port, projects include a 180 million riyals truck service center managed by Q Saudi to optimize traffic, a new 400,000-square-meter integrated logistics park developed by Kuwait's Agility, and the inauguration of the new AlDrees and eXtra logistics centers, thus consolidating the objectives of the Kingdom's National Strategy for Transport and Logistics.
