Indian Oil-Adani Gas to Spearhead PNG Pipeline Network in Prayagraj

Prayagraj is set to significantly expand its piped natural gas (PNG) network, with 200 km of new pipeline to be laid over the next two years, aiming to connect around 3,00,000 households.

Indian Oil-Adani Gas will spearhead the project for over 200 km, laying 130 km of pipeline in the current financial year, followed by an additional 120 km in the next phase. This expansion comes at a time when residents are facing rising LPG prices and periodic supply concerns, making PNG an attractive and reliable alternative for domestic fuel needs. So far, approx. 800 km of PNG pipeline has already been installed across the district, with 600 km covering urban areas. Despite this progress, LPG remains widely used, with over 1.479 million consumers in the city.

“Efforts are underway to ensure that people have access to PNG in every area of the city. In the first phase, 800 km of lines have been laid. Plans have been made to lay lines in the second phase. The effort is to ensure that people have easy access to PNG in every street and neighborhood,” said Pankaj Kumar, Associate Manager, Indian Oil-Adani Gas.
