Crude Pipeline Testing Completed at HPCL’s Pachpadra Refinery

Crude oil supply testing at Rajasthan’s first modern BS-VI compliant refinery in Pachpadra, Barmer district, has been successfully completed, marking a key milestone ahead of its official inauguration.

The refinery, developed by HPCL Rajasthan Refinery, will be inaugurated on April 21 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Trial runs using crude transported via pipelines from both the Mangala Processing Terminal in Nagana, about 95 km away, and Mundra Port, nearly 700 km distant, have been successful. Currently, Cairn Vedanta produces around 75,000 barrels of crude oil daily at the Mangala facility, which is presently sent to Salaya in Gujarat and supplied to refiners like Reliance Industries and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals. A government-level MoU between Cairn Vedanta and HRRL is expected soon to begin direct supply.

The integrated refinery-petrochemical complex will produce cleaner BS-VI fuels and use a zero liquid discharge system. Built at an estimated Rs. 80,000 crore, the project is expected to boost industrial growth and generate significant employment in the region.
