Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Approves Establishment of 2,000 MW Solar Park

The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, has approved the establishment of a 2,000 MW solar park, accompanied by a 1,000 MW composite energy storage project.

This initiative, to be set up in Madhya Pradesh, is strategically designed to serve both Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Given the differing seasonal peak electricity demands in the two states, the power generated will be shared, with each state receiving supply for six months annually.

This innovative arrangement aims to optimize power distribution and enhance energy security. In Madhya Pradesh, where around 41 percent of electricity consumption is attributed to agriculture, demand peaks between October and March for Rabi crop irrigation.

Uttar Pradesh, by contrast, sees peak agricultural power consumption during the Kharif season. The complementary demand patterns between the two states make this shared project highly efficient in addressing seasonal power needs.
