ABB India Enhances IOCL’s 20,000km Pipeline Network with Automation

ABB India has successfully delivered advanced automation and enhanced digital solutions for Indian Oil Corporation's (IOCL) 20,000-km oil and gas pipeline network. This system supports India’s energy needs by transporting 125 million tonne of oil and 49 mmscm of gas annually.

At the core of this transformation is ABB’s Ability SCADAvantage platform, integrated with robust cyber security and disaster recovery systems. The solutions enable centralized management under IndianOil’s Centralized Pipeline Information Management System (CPIMS). ABB has also committed to a 10-year ABB Care contract to unify all existing pipelines under CPIMS and provide long-term support.

Director (Pipelines), IndianOil, Senthil Kumar N said, "By leveraging cutting-edge technology, this project aims to eliminate manual operations and enhance the efficiency, productivity, and availability of the pipeline network.” ABB, which was awarded the CPIMS contract in February 2024, completed the design and delivery within a year.
