Iraq Moving Towards Operational Phase of Grand Faw Port

The management of the General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) held an extensive meeting this week with representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Consultancy Firm KBR at the Ministry of Transport headquarters to discuss the transition to the operational phase of the Grand Faw Port.

Dr. Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director General of the company, stated that with the completion of essential infrastructure, the focus has now shifted to selecting the most suitable operational model, aligned with government strategy and international expertise. He emphasized the importance of coordination between government agencies and global companies to ensure the success of this strategic project.

The meeting also addressed the training and development of Iraqi port staff who will oversee operations and future expansion policies.

The Grand Faw Port is one of Iraq's largest infrastructure projects and is expected to become a major regional maritime trade hub, significantly contributing to economic growth and strengthening Iraq's trade links worldwide.
