Karnataka Set to Establish Solar Power Projects at Thermal Plant Premises

Karnataka Power Corporation (KPCL) is set to establish ground-mounted solar power projects at Ballari, Yermarus, and Raichur thermal power stations as part of the Energy Department’s renewable energy expansion plan. With a total capacity of 100.1 MW and an estimated cost of Rs 411.4 crore, the projects will be developed under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) model by a private firm for three years.

Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC), a PSU under NTPC, is overseeing the initiative. KPCL aims to optimize energy production by integrating solar power with thermal generation.

Karnataka Renewable Energy Development (KREDL) has invited tenders for a 300 KW green hydrogen plant with a solar installation at BTPS, wherein this pilot project will be used by KPCL for sustainable energy initiatives.
