NTPC Synchronizes Unit 3 of North Karanpura STPP

NTPC successfully synchronized Unit 3 (660 MW) of North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (NKSTPP), marking a key step toward full operationalization of the 1,980 MW plant.

Strategically located in Chatra district of Jharkhand, the pit-head project will supply power to Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim, ensuring round-the-clock reliable electricity for the Eastern region. It is India’s first supercritical thermal power project to incorporate an air-cooled condenser (ACC) at this scale, reducing water consumption to one-third of conventional systems.

The new unit will enhance NTPC’s capacity to provide sustainable power to millions, reinforcing its role in India’s energy sector and economic growth.
