PGCIL Approves Investments for Transmission Networks, RE Integration

Last month, Powergrid Corporation of India's 'Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects' approved two major initiatives to boost infrastructure and strengthen its power transmission network.

The first project focuses on creating a 400kV switchyard and installing two 1500MVA, 765/400kV Interconnecting Transformers (ICTs) at Vataman (AIS), along with two 125 MVAr (420 kV) bus reactors. This project, part of the Transmission System for Offshore Wind Zone Phase-1 (500 MW VGF off Gujarat’s coast for Subzone B3), has an estimated cost of Rs 319.42 crore.

The second project aims to establish an additional transmission system to ensure a redundant power supply for the Dholera area. With a budget of Rs 109.74 crore, it is scheduled for commissioning on 01 March 2026. This development also aligns with the ongoing creation of the 400 kV switchyard at Vataman under the same offshore wind zone transmission scheme.
