NTPC Paramanu Urja Nigam to Lead NTPC’s Nuclear Energy Business

NTPC has incorporated a new wholly owned subsidiary (WOS), NTPC Paramanu Urja Nigam to lead its nuclear energy business. This move comes as a strategic step towards expanding its portfolio in harnessing nuclear energy for generating electricity and promoting research and development.

The primary objective of NTPC Paramanu Urja Nigam is to undertake integrated programs for the commercial development of nuclear energy. The subsidiary will build, own, operate, and manage nuclear energy facilities, select suitable sites for nuclear power stations, and oversee ancillary facilities.

The incorporation of this new unit followed approvals from the Ministry of Power, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), and NITI Aayog. NTPC has subscribed to 50,000 equity shares at a face value of Rs 10 each, ensuring 100 percent ownership of the subsidiary.
