Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to develop up to 7,000 MW of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hybrid solutions.

The MoU, signed in Amaravati, aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s vision to expand its renewable energy capacity under the state’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy, which targets 160 GW of clean energy development. The proposed projects will require an estimated investment of Rs 49,000 crore, making it one of the largest renewable energy investments in the state.

As part of the agreement, TPREL will conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and development activities to evaluate the viability of the projects. The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) will support project facilitation, site identification, and evacuation infrastructure.

The state’s landmark ICE policy aims to attract investment of Rs 10 lakh crore and generate 7.5 lakh employment opportunities. Speaking about the collaboration, TPREL CEO & Managing Director, Deepesh Nanda, emphasized the company’s commitment to leveraging its expertise and advanced technology to drive large-scale renewable energy adoption. Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for IT, Electronics & Communications, and HRD, Nara Lokesh, welcomed Tata Power’s involvement, stating that the partnership will deepen the longstanding relationship between the state and the Tata Group.
