ONGC, TPREL Ink MoU to Explore Collaborative Opportunities in BESS

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore collaborative opportunities in the battery energy storage system (BESS) value chain.

This partnership aims to enhance utility-scale storage systems, grid stability, renewable energy integration, and EV charging infrastructure.

The collaboration supports India's goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy by 2030, highlighting a commitment to sustainability. TPREL's experience in deploying India's largest Solar and BESS project, a 100 MW Solar PV plant with 120 MWh BESS in Chhattisgarh, further underscores its leadership in the energy storage sector.

Chairman and CEO of ONGC, Arun Kumar Singh stated, “This collaboration with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited represents a strategic step towards strengthening energy storage capabilities, which are vital for grid stability and renewable energy adoption. By leveraging our collective expertise, we aim to contribute meaningfully to India’s energy transition and long-term energy security.”
